TAYLOR FISHER SCHOLARSHIP A memorial scholarship will be awarded to graduating seniors in memory of Taylor Fisher, a 2012 graduate of Ouachita Parish High School.   GUIDELINES: 1.	Applicant must be a current graduating senior of Ouachita Parish, West Ouachita, West Monroe, Richwood, and Sterlington High School who has been accepted to any accredited post-graduate program consisting of a 2-year community college or a 4-year college/university in the United States.  Once enrolled, the scholarship recipient must present a current community college or university schedule to the High Schools Accounting Department to have the scholarship funds released.  2.	Applicants must have a minimum cumulative 3.00 GPA on a 4.00 GPA scale in high school and demonstrate financial need. 3.	Applicant must demonstrate scholastic application and intend to continue his/her education.  The selection committee will also consider the applicant’s participation and leadership in school, community activities, and educational goals. 4.	Selections are made by a committee consisting of High School Faculty Members and other members approved by the Fisher Family. 5.	Students are required to submit an essay describing their future goals and aspirations. The essay is to be no longer than two, single-spaced pages.  Applicants must also demonstrate hardships/obstacles overcome, and accomplishments in the following areas: 1) Leadership Qualities 2) Personal Difficulties 3) Motivation 4) Academic Promise 5) Community Outreach and Involvement. 6.	 ALL paperwork must be submitted to the High School Guidance Department. APPLICATION PROCEDURES All information requested on the Application Form must be provided. Incomplete applications will not be considered.  1. The Nominee’s Autobiographical Essay: Each applicant must submit a signed essay, not to exceed two single-spaced pages. The essay will play a significant role in the selection process. Your essay should address the following:  Leadership Qualities: Inspiring or directing others; becoming a role model for your peers. Evidence of leadership qualities can be drawn from personal or academic experiences, including extra-curricular activities.  Obstacles Overcome/Challenges: Achieving a goal despite barriers or challenges that has given you the determination to persevere. Include personal difficulties, hardships, medical problems, whether personal or family related that have directly affected your academic life.  Achievements: Special skills and talents, creative or challenging activities that you have accomplished in your personal or academic life, such as artistic talent, public speaking and scientific or mathematical aptitude.  Community Outreach: Volunteer work performed that has benefited others such as the elderly, not for profit groups or agencies, schools, hospitals or community service agencies.  2. The Supporting Financial Statement: This must be submitted by the applicant to determine his/her eligibility for financial assistance.  3. Nomination and References: Applicants must be nominated by a High School Faculty Member or Community Leader. 4. Completed Application Form. Please contact one of the 5 participating High Schools for an application.

This years 11th annual Taylor Fisher Memorial Scholarship Bass Tournament is expected to be one of our areas premier fishing events. Thanks to many wonderful sponsors and volunteers, we will be paying out 10 places guaranteed with 1st place being $4000.
